Illinois still winless in Big Ten after home loss to Indiana Saturday.

The Illinois Fighting Illini are one of two winless teams in the Big Ten after Saturday's home loss to the the Indiana Hoosiers. Both Illinois and Indiana came into the game at 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the Big Ten. Now Illinois and Purdue are alone as the Big Ten's only winless squads, both at 0-4.

Illinois blog The Champaign Room expressed disappointment not only about the game itself, but the way the season has gone:

And then, on October 27th, the Fighting Illini lost to the Indiana Hoosiers. At home. Welcome to the nadir of the season.

Coming into this game, the Hoosiers' defense had only recorded twelve sacks all season. They managed seven today. Seven. Remember when the OL was a strength of the team? Now it looks like me standing outside the bar on a cold night. "Oh, you need to get by? Go ahead, I'm not that cold."

Things don't get easier as the Illini face undefeated Ohio State next week. They should, however, have two good chances at home to get a win against 1-3 Minnesota and winless Purdue before closing the season on the road at Northwestern.

Illinois and Indiana traded scores in the first half of Saturday's game until Indiana pulled away with a 21-14 halftime lead. Hoosiers running back Stephen Houston has all three of Indiana's touchdown, and his 7-yard run gave Indiana the halftime advantage.

Nathan Scheelhaase rushed for a five yard touchdown that capped an eight-play, 55-yard drive to start the second quarter. It only took the Hoosiers six plays in two minutes to come back and score on the Illinois defense. Nate Sudfield hit Stephen Houston for a 10-yard touchdown and Houston's second trip to the end zone of the game.

The teams were tied, 7-7, after the first quarter. Scheelhaase found Eddie Viliunas for a short touchdown toss, and Houston ran for a two-yard score while the extra point evened the score. Back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter put the Hoosiers up.

Illinois and Indiana are both 2-5 overall this season and still without a win in Big Ten action.

Illinois and Indiana are tied, 7-7, after the first quarter of Saturday's game at Memorial Stadium.

The Fighting Illini marched down the field on a nine-play, 73-yard touchdown drive that ended with a short pass from Nathan Scheelhaase to Eddie Viliunas, which gave Illinois the first lead of the game. Earlier in the drive, Scheelhaase connected with Darius Millines on passes of 28 and 15 yards to help put the Illini into the red zone. Scheelhaase also had a 14-yard run on that possession.

But the Hoosiers responded with an almost identical nine-play, 75-yard touchdown drive of their own. Indiana running back Stephen Houston rushed two yards for the score.

Indiana regained possession after an Illinois' punt, but quarterback Cameron Coffman threw an interception. The Illini, however, were unable to take advantage of the turnover and punted again.

Both teams, each with a 2-5 overall record, have struggled this season and are still looking for their first Big Ten victory of the year.

Illinois comes off of a bye ready to earn their first win in conference play.

The Illinois Fighting Illini (2-5, 0-3) return from an week off with a chance to win their first Big Ten game when they host the Indiana Hoosiers (2-5, 0-3) on Saturday.

Illinois hopes to move past the 45-0 drubbing at the hands of Michigan of their last game Oct. 13th. The Illini have given up more than 40 points in three of their five losses this season, but the offense hasn't helped much heading into Saturday's game ranked last in points and yards per game among Big Ten teams.

The Hoosiers have been knocking on the door of victory the past few weeks but just haven't been able to close out a win. Four of Indiana's five losses this season were by less than a touchdown including a 52-49 loss to No. 8 Ohio State two weeks ago and a 31-30 loss to Navy last week after giving up a late touchdown.

Sophomore quarter back Cameron Coffman leads the Indiana offense, keeping the points piling up for the Hoosiers after losing dynamic quarterback Tre Roberson earlier in the season. The Hoosiers' offense ranks third in the Big Ten in points per game and second in yards per game while the defense is last in the conference in both categories.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 11:00 a.m. CT and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
