The Blackhawks' Tuesday night tilt with the Nashville Predators at the United Center was Chicago's first game without injured star Jonathan Toews, and it showed. The Blackhawks' offense was punchless throughout the night in a 3-1 defeat to the Predators, the team's second straight loss to Nashville. The win moves Nashville into a tie with the 'Hawks in the Western Conference standings. Both teams have 64 points, but Nashville holds a tie-breaker with more victories. The loss drops Chicago to sixth in the conference standings.

Chicago finally found the scoreboard in the third period when Dave Bolland scored his 15th goal of the season on a power play. The score was set-up by Marian Hossa and defenseman Nick Leddy.

Despite a few quality shots on net in the final two minutes, Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne kept Chicago's offense at bay and sealed the victory for the Predators. Nashville would add an empty-net goal by Colin Wilson to reach the final score of 3-1.

Two Western Conference powers are meeting tonight at the United Center, and thus far, it's the Nashville Predators who are leading the Chicago Blackhawks 2-0.

The Predators scored both of their goals off Chicago giveaways. Craig Smith got Nashville on the board first when he beat Chicago goalie Corey Crawford for his 11th goal off the year. Matt Halischuk was credited with the assist.
Hawks will be without their Captain Tuesday against Nashville.

The Blackhawks welcome the Nashville Predators to town Tuesday before enjoying a nice long break for the all-star game this weekend.

The Hawks and Preds are playing the second game of a home and home. On Saturday the Predators beat the Blackhawks 5-2. Saturday was the first meeting of the year between the two clubs.

Captain Jonathan Toews is expected to miss Tuesday's game because of injury and may also miss this weekends all-star game.

The probable goaltenders for Tuesday's game are Corey Crawford (16-11-4) for Chicago and Pekka Rinne (26-11-4) for Nashville.

The all-star break couldn't come at a better time for the Blackhawks. Patrick Sharp is starting to skate again after a wrist injury put him out the past few weeks and now Toews is nursing an injury as well. The time off is much needed for the team to get healthy.

Tuesday's game is scheduled to start at 7:30 and will be televised on CSN.
