Well you knew it had to end at some point. For whatever reason the Chicago White Sox (52-53) have dominated the Boston Red Sox (65-40) the past few season. The White Sox have been average at best this season, but when they see the Red Sox their play seems to improve. That all ended Saturday. Boston would score ten runs and finally beat the White Sox 10-2.

Philip Humber and Jon Lester had a nice pitching duel going through four innings. In the fifth though Boston would plate four runs thanks to two sacrifice flys, an RBI double, and an RBI single. Paul Konerko would hit a solo homer in the seventh to pull the White Sox within three, but Boston would add six more in route to their victory.

Jon Lester pitched very well for Boston Saturday. Lester, who had struggled against the White Sox, allowed just two runs on four hits to go along with eight strikeouts in eight innings of work. The Red Sox lefty improved to 11-4 on the season.

Philip Humber’s bad July continued in game two of the series. Humber allowed four runs on six hits in four and two-thirds innings of work. The White Sox righty fell to 8-7 on the season.

The White Sox and Red Sox will face off in the rubber match Sunday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field.

The 2011 Chicago White Sox are a difficult team to figure out. They struggle against Kansas City, Minnesota, Oakland, and Baltimore yet they own the Boston Red Sox. The White Sox have won seven in a row against Boston and are 14-2 in their last 16 meetings. The White Sox will look to continue that success on Saturday evening.

Philip Humber will get the start for Chicago on Saturday. Humber was the White Sox surprise of the season the first half of the season. Saturday's start will be Humber's first in almost two weeks. The Sox righty comes in to Saturday's game with an 8-6 record and an ERA of 3.27. Humber won his last start against Boston back in May at Fenway park.

Jon Lester will look to even the series for Boston in game two of the series. Lester is 10-4 on the season with an ERA of 3.23. The Red Sox lefty struggled in his last start against the White Sox. On May 30th, Lester allowed a season-high seven runs in a loss to Chicago. In his last start at U.S. Cellular Field, Lester allowed eight runs in a loss to the White Sox.

The forecast in Chicago at the time of first pitch is temps in the 80's under partly cloudy skies. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 CST. The game will be televised on WGN.
