The Sox began their current homestand with two goals. Start winning series at home and start winning series against the AL Central. Unfortunately for the Sox, neither was able to happen as they dropped both series to the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. After a win in their final at bat Saturday, the Sox were hoping to gain some momentum against Minnesota. Unfortunately the Twins had other plans and took the series finale from the Sox 6-3 and won another series with the Sox three games to one.

Jake Peavy really struggled for the Sox Sunday in his first start against Minnesota in a Sox uniform. Peavy went just four and a third and allowed five runs on ten hits. The Twins peppered the White Sox righty all afternoon with all but two of their hits being singles. Peavy fell to 4-3 on the season after Sunday’s loss.

Anthony Swarzak pitched great in his first outing against the White Sox. Swarzak, who started for the injured Scott Baker, went six innings and allowed just one run on four hits. The Twins righty improved to 2-2 on the season.

The White Sox did threaten in the seventh inning scoring twice off the Twins bullpen, but Matt Capps pitched a relatively easy ninth inning to earn his 15th save of the season.

The Sox will now head to the all-star break and enjoy a few days off. They will resume play Friday evening in Detroit against the Tigers.

Although it was just one game, it was an important game for the White Sox. Saturday's come from behind victory ended a nine game losing streak against the rival Twins. The other positive from Saturday was the fact that they tied and also won the game on two out clutch hits. Now if the Sox can get Adam Dunn and Alex Rios going the second half of the season could be an exciting one.

Jake Peavy gets the start Sunday in the series finale. Peavy is 4-2 on the season with an ERA of 4.83. This will be the first time Peavy will face the Twins as a member of the White Sox. The right-hander has faced Minnesota in his career. While with San Diego, Peavy faced the Twins twice and has an ERA of 2.84.

The Twins will counter with Anthony Swarzak. Swarzak comes in to Sunday's start with a record of 1-2 on the season and an ERA of 3.71. The Twins righty is filling in for Scott Baker who is out with a strained right flexor muscle. Swarzak has made three starts for the Twins this season and is 1-1 in those starts. This will be the first time the Fort Lauderdale native will face the White Sox.

The forecast at the time of first pitch is partly cloudy skies with temps near 90 degrees. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 CST. The game can be seen on CSN.
