Baseball is a funny game. Friday the Sox blew a two run lead in the ninth inning and lost a game they had no business losing. Saturday they won a game they really had no business winning.

John Danks pitched his second great game of the week improving his record to 2-8 on the season. Danks went seven and two thirds and allowed two runs on just four hits.

Jesse Crain pitched the last inning and a third to earn his first save, but in all reality the save went to Brent Lillibridge. With one out in the eighth inning, Lillibridge robbed Coco Crisp of a two run homer reaching over the left field fence that would have given Oakland the lead.

The Sox offense really didn’t show up Saturday evening. The Sox stranded 12 men on base and scored two of their three runs thanks to Oakland miscues. Ramon Castro did hit his third homer of the season which was the one offensive highlight for the Sox.

Gio Gonzalez (5-5) took the loss for Oakland. Gonzalez was wild all evening walking seven Sox hitters in his five and a third innings of work.

The Sox will look to win the series and finish the home stand with a winning record when the two teams meet again on Sunday Afternoon.

The great thing about baseball is that there is always tomorrow. With a game just about everyday, you don't have much time to think about the previous game and what went good or bad the night before. The White Sox should be much appreciative they get to play again today and forget about how Friday's game ended.

John Danks will take the ball for the Sox (31-35) in Saturday's game. Danks is coming off his best start and only win of the season when he beat the Mariners on Monday allowing one unearned run in seven and a third innings pitched. Danks faced Oakland in early April going eight innings allowing just run. He didn't figure in the decision as the Sox bullpen gave up six runs and fell to the A's 7-4.

Oakland (28-37) comes into Saturday's game winning just one of their last ten and are in last-place in the AL West. One area you can't blame is their pitching staff. Oakland leads the American League with a team ERA of 3.35.

A big reason for Oakland's pitching success is Saturday's starter Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez is 5-4 on the season with an ERA of just 2.62. The lefty hasn't had much success against the White Sox, who have traded him twice. Gonzalez has faced the Sox four times and is 0-3 with an ERA of 6.45.

The forecast in Chicago at the time of first pitch is partly sunny skies with temps in the mid-60's. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:10 CST. The game can be seen on WGN.
