Jhoulys Chacin continued his impressive start to the season, and Colorado continued their dominating run as the Rockies trampled the Cubs Friday night at Coors Field. Chacin threw a complete game shut-out, limiting the Cubs to just six hits and two walks on the night. He also struck out seven.

Most of the Cubs offense came in the form of Aramis Ramirez, who went 3-for-4 with a double, but the rest of the lineup was silent in the face of Chacin.

Matt Garza got through the first inning, but was rocked four four earned runs in the second, led by a Chris Ianetta bases clearing triple. Ianetta would score himself on a throwing error by Starlin Castro. The Rockies added another in the fifth, but by then the game was put away as the Cubs left ten men on base.

The second game of the series will take place on Saturday evening at 7:10 P.M. CDT.

After two starts, Matt Garza finds himself with a 0-1 record and bloated 5.68 ERA and 1.82 WHIP. He'll be looking for his first win of the season on Friday evening in Colorado, but it won't be an easy task. The Rockies, currently in first place in the NL West, have lost only two games all season.

Garza has a career 0-1 record against Colorado, with a 7.20 ERA and 1.40 WHIP, though he has only faced the Rockies in a single game. In that limited action, Carlos Gonzalez has hit him well, going 1-for-2 with a home run. Colorado will send Jhoulys Chacin to the mound, looking to continue at Coors Field the success they experienced on their 7-1 road trip.

Chacin is currently 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, and seven K's on the season. Against the Cubs, Chacin is 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. Marlon Byrd and Kosuke Fukudome have had some success against Chacin. In limited action, Byrd is 1-for-2 with a walk, while Fukudome is 2-for-3 with a home run.

The weather in Denver is expected to be cool and chilly, with a low in the upper 30's. First pitch is at 7:40 P.M. CDT, and the game will be televised on WCIU and ROOT Sports.
