The players have been introduced one by one and giving improptu speeches. Kris Versteeg performed an impromptu rap, and Patrick Kane started a cheer for all the cab drivers in the city.

The buses have stopped and the speeches are starting at the stage set up at the end of the parade route. Airplanes have flown overhead, and they are currently airing a video montage of the 2010 regular season and playoffs.

The buses have finally departed the United Center and are making their way along the parade route. The scene is an absolute madhouse, with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane passing the Cup back and forth as they pass by the cheering crowds.

Ticker tape is flowing from the windows and fans are screaming like pre-teens at a Justin Bieber concert. The city hasn’t been this happy since 2005. Go Hawks!

The original estimate for the number of people showing up to watch the Blackhawks parade today was around 350,000. That estimate may soon be exceeded. Currently, it’s being reported that 300,000 have already lined the parade route, with some having arrived as early as 2:00am.

More fans are reportedly still on the way, clogging CTA and Metra trains in an attempt to get down to the parade route. While the parade buses are supposed to start shortly, they seem to be somewhat delayed, so in transit fans still have time to make their way down to the event.

Chicago taxpayers will not pay one dime for Friday’s ticker-tape parade and rally celebrating the Blackhawks first Stanley Cup victory in 49 years, thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors, Mayor Daley said today.

"We have sponsors. They made a commitment to do that.
