Notre Dame Fighting Irish linebacker Manti Te'o can share one of his many honors with his teammates this time around. It was announced on Tuesday that Te'o was named to the Associated Press All-American team. He was named to the first time, a year after he made the AP's second team.
Te'o is joined by teammates Tyler Eifert, Stephn Tuitt and Braxston Cave. Te'o was the only one of the four to be named to the first team, however.
Eifert, who was absolutely shutdown for the Irish at tight end this season, was named to the second team, for the second year in a row. Tuitt, a defensive end who played in front of Te'o all season, was named to the second team as well. Cave, the team's center, made it on the third team.
Alabama, Notre Dame's opponent in the national title game, had six players named to the AP teams, with two of them (Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack) on the first team.
