The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be fighting to keep their perfect record intact when they face the rival Boston College Eagles Saturday night. The Irish are a 19-point favorite to win.
Notre Dame is a perfect 9-0 on the season after last week's triple overtime victory over Pitt. It marks the first time that the Fighting Irish have won their first nine games since 1993, when the program's perfect season ended in a 41-39 loss to Boston College. Notre Dame is led by its defense, which ranks second in the nation in scoring defense and tenth in total defense. Linebacker Manti Te'o has recorded 85 tackles and five interceptions on the season, and is receiving some Heisman Trophy buzz.
Boston College has struggled throughout the year, with a record of 2-7 and just one win in the ACC. The Eagles throw the ball almost exclusively, averaging 289 yards per game through the air from the arm of Chase Rettig. The junior quarterback has 16 touchdown passes on the season with only eight interceptions.
Kickoff at BC's Alumni Stadium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT. ABC will handle the television broadcast.
