The Notre Dame Fighting Irish football program will be placed in the national spotlight this upcoming weekend, as ESPN's College GameDay will invade South Bend. The popular college football pregame show will spotlight the No. 7-ranked Irish's Week 7 showdown with the No. 17 Stanford Cardinal (3:30 p.m. on NBC).

This will be the first time hosts Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso will be on the campus of University of Notre Dame since October 2005, when the Irish hosted the then No. 1-ranked USC Trojans.

"We're excited about the spotlight being here in South Bend and for our program," said head coach Brian Kelly to the media on Sunday. "And I'll just work really diligently this week to keep our guys on task."

This week's showdown will feature two programs coming off impressive victories. Notre Dame (5-0) routed the Miami Hurricanes, 41-3, while Stanford (4-1, 2-1 Pact-12) came from behind to edge the Arizona Wildcats, 54-48, in overtime.

The contest is expected to be a low-scoring affair, as the Irish and Cardinal feature highly touted defenses. Last season, Stanford defeated Notre Dame, 28-14, behind a four-touchdown performance from Andrew Luck. The last time the Cardinal were at South Bend they won in a rout, 37-14.
