The No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will try to stay undefeated and bolster their case as a legitimate national title contender when they play host to the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday in South Bend.
The Irish (8-0) are coming off a 30-13 win over the then-No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners in Week 9. The win helped them leapfrog the Oregon Ducks in the BCS standings. Notre Dame's defense has been stellar on the 2012 campaign, allowing just 9.9 points per game which is second-best in the nation.
Pitt will face their stiffest test of the 2012 season on Saturday. The Panthers notched an impressive 47-17 blowout win over the the Temple Owls in Week 9, and while they'd like to carry that momentum into Saturday's game against the Irish, they'll need more than momentum to knock off one of Notre Dame's strongest teams in years.
Kickoff for Saturday's game is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on NBC.
