Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma: Fighting Irish play underdog role on road against Sooners

Undefeated Irish face tough odds when they travel to play at Oklahoma on Saturday night.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-0) take an undefeated record in to Norman, Okla., on Saturday night when they face the Oklahoma Sooners (5-1), but oddsmakers don't think the fifth-ranked Fighting Irish will return to South Bend unblemished.

According to Oddshark, Notre Dame is a 10-point underdog heading into their matchup with the eighth-ranked Sooners. Notre Dame's strong defense has helped them gut out tight wins over their toughest opponents so far this season while remaining in the mix for a BCS championship run.

But Oklahoma presents the stiffest challenge so far this season for the Irish with a prolific offensive attack that will determine just how stout that Notre Dame defense is this season. The Sooners have just one loss, a 24-19 setback against third-ranked Kansas State.

Since the loss to K-State, Oklahoma has beaten three Big 12 opponents in a row, averaging 52 points per game including a 63-21 drubbing of No. 23 Texas.
