The Notre Dame Fighting Irish remain unbeaten, and before they are tested on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 27, they must first face the BYU Cougars at home on Saturday.
Head coach Brian Kelly said in a report by JJ Stankevitz of CSNChicago.com on Friday that he has prepared his team against a possible letdown.
"They are trap games if you forget how to go to work," Kelly said in the report. "We've already talked about it with our team, and we'll make sure that we do everything to prepare the right way."
The Cougars are 4-3 on the season, coming off of a 42-24 loss to the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday. It could be a defensive struggle in South Bend on Saturday, however, as BYU boasts the seventh-best defense in the nation in points allowed, giving up 13.6 per game. The Irish have the country's second-best defense in terms of points allowed, surrendering only 8.7 points through six games.
Notre Dame and BYU kickoff this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on NBC.
