The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in the top five of the BCS standings for the first time since 2006, but head coach Brian Kelly isn't worried about how his team is ranked right now, according to JJ Stankevitz of CSNChicago.com. While the Irish would obviously love to remain highly ranked, Kelly said the team is remaining focused on each game as they come, and if they take care of business on the field, the rankings will take care of themselves:
"All you'll really hear us talk about are the goals as it relates to playing the game, and if you hit these goals, you've got a great chance to win and then how do you get there and so that's how we deal with it on a day‑to‑day basis."
The Fighting Irish host the BYU Cougars on Saturday, Oct. 20th, with a massive game against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman looming the weekend after. If Notre Dame isn't focusing on its current opponent, that game against the Sooners may become much less meaningful.
