The Notre Dame Fighting Irish moved up to No. 5 in the most recent SB Nation BlogPoll following their 20-13 overtime win over the Stanford Cardinal. The No. 5 ranking is Notre Dame's highest ranking of the season, up two spots from last week.
The ballot breakdown for the 6-0 Irish shows that they received four first-place votes, the third most of any team behind top-ranked Alabama (62) and third-ranked Florida (5). The lowest ranking the Irish received was 13th, while most bloggers ranked them fifth in their ballots.
Notre Dame takes on the BYU Cougars at home on Oct. 20 before one of the toughest parts of their schedule, an Oct. 27 date with the No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, OK.
The Northwestern Wildcats landed outside of the top 25 at 30th overall and the Northern Illinois Huskies came in at 34th. The Illinois Fighting Illini received no votes in the BlogPoll.
