The season is early, and this is just week one of conference play, but so far both the Indiana Hoosiers and Northwestern Wildcats are exceeding expectations, sitting at 2-1 and 4-0 respectively.
Indiana have leaned on their passing attack, ranked 13th in the nation as sophomore QB Cameron Coffman has thrown for 410 yards in his two starts, all while completing 70-percent of his passes. He has yet to throw an interception. Developing a rapport with fellow sophomore, WR Cody Latimer has paid dividends as the receiver totaled 115 yards receiving and two touchdowns last week against Ball State.
The offense is a different story for Northwestern, who relies instead on the running game of Venric Mark and the athleticism of QB Kain Colter to amass a combined 609 yards on the ground, and six touchdowns on the year. Last week South Dakota had no answer for Mark, as he averaged over seven yards per carry, finishing the day with three TDs.
