Big Ten Mascots Perform Carly Rae Jepsen's Hit "Call Me Maybe"

Does this even need further elaboration? Follow me to the breakdown, after the jump.

First, the video:

I like this because Sparty exceeds his high expectations, Bucky is beyond Bucky, Iowa's footage ranges from 'respectable' to 'downright grainy', it's loaded with fun loving co-eds, and, maybe most importantly, Michigan is not involved*.

(* - I know other schools like Purdue and Northwestern weren't involved, but that's because they're not hip to the song. My vision is Michigan classically bowing out; also, they don't have a mascot.)

But seriously, how often does the Big Ten -- or 'B1G', as they weirdly call themselves -- get this type of stuff right? Here's is a video that's well-timed, in touch, clever, presentable, and not stuffy. When can you typically use any of this adjectives to describe this ass backwards conference? Never, I say. It's always a pretty safe move when you choose to align yourself with the song of the summer. That's summer 2012, not 1962 (FYI, "The Twist" came out that year).

So today, I tip my hat to you, Big Ten. You nailed this one for sure. And no one can ever take that away from you.

(Well, unless you're violating some sort of YouTube rules and they end up pulling the video -- but worry not! To me, that just makes you even cooler.)
