Northwestern, Stanford Set To Play Home-And-Home Series In 2015 And 2016

The Northwestern Wildcats have finalized plans to play the Stanford Cardinal in home-and-home series during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, as Northwestern athletic director Jim Phillips announced on Wednesday. The deal comes as part of efforts to increase the relationships between teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences.

Chris Emma of PurpleWildcats.com has the quotes from Phillips, who notes that the first match-up with occur in Evanston on Sept. 5, 2015:

This was a great opportunity for Northwestern to expand on our upcoming series with Stanford and allow an exciting matchup to take place even sooner. We're thrilled about the quality of our future nonconference opponents, with schools such as Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Syracuse, California and now Stanford.

The two schools already had an agreement in place to play each other in the future, but this announcement specifies when those match-ups will begin to take place. Northwestern and Stanford last played in 1993, with the game ending in a 41-41 tie.
