Northwestern Vs. Minnesota Recap: Strong Game From Shurna And Sobolewski Gives Wildcats 64-53 Win

The Northwestern Wildcats (16-10, 5-8) scored their lowest point total of the season, but managed to find a win against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (17-9, 5-8).

Freshman Dave Sobolewski (22 PTS, 1 REB) and senior John Shurna (18 PTS, 5 REB, 5 AST, 4 STL and 3 BLK) helped lead a struggling Wildcats team to victory Saturday night. The Wildcats took a 36-28 lead in the first half, taking advantage of a 7-0 run midway through the half and 5-0 run late.

With the team leading by 10 points late, solid free throw shooting from JerShon Cobb (2 PTS, 4 REB, 4 STL) and Sobokewski helped put the game away for good. Northwestern wins, 64-53.

The Wildcats host the Michigan Wolverines (21-5, 10-3) next Tuesday, looking to take a win from the Michigan basketball team after narrowly losing 64-66 in their last matchup.
