The Nortwestern Wildcats and the Texas A&M Aggies had a month to prepare for the Meineke Car Care Bowl, but the Wildcats have come out fairly flat in the early going. The Aggies have jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a 25-yard field goal by Randy Bullock in the early going, and the Wildcat offense looks off right now. The normal potent passing attack led by Dan Persa has been limited to 44 yards in the first quarter, and the bigger concern is that the unit has been forced to burn two timeouts after looking out of sync and off rhythm. Northwestern may be a bit lucky they are only down three points, as A&M appeared to have scored a touchdown, but failed to receive a timely review and led to the made field goal to open the scoring instead.
The offenses for both teams have been strong all season long, but the month off has apparently slowed them down. For the Aggies, at least Ryan Tannehill has looked good throwing the ball, as he has already racked up 88 yards passing on 8/14 through one quarter of play.
