Northwestern Vs Stony Brook Recap: Wildcats Escape Upset, Win 62-58

The Wildcats led big in the second half, but nearly lost to the Stony Brook Seawolves in the final minutes.

The Northwestern Wildcats (5-0) led by as much as 11 points in the second half, but the Stony Brook Seawolves (2-3) staged a furious comeback in the last six minutes, getting as close as three points behind with only 1:53 remaining. Ultimately, the Wildcats pulled through, winning 63-58.

The Wildcats started the game slow, falling down 3-10 in the first five minutes, but a 14-point run put Northwestern up 20-13 midway through the first half. The Seawolves fought back, retaking the lead 27-28 minutes before the second half, but NU finished the first half with a 30-28 lead and didn't fall behind from then on.

Forward Drew Crawford (12 points), forward John Shurna (20 points), and guard Dave Sobolewski (16 points) led the Northwestern attack, compiling over 35 minutes each and leading the team in points and rebounds.
