The Northwestern Wildcats are off to a hot start against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Wildcats received the opening kickoff and got a quick 68-yard return by Venric Mark, setting up a touchdown drive highlighted by a Dan Persa seven-yard touchdown pass to Kain Colter.
Persa went 3-3 for 20 yards on the opening drive, including the TD pass, and the Wildcats offense did not face a third down as they drove in for the score. The drive took only one minute and twenty-six seconds to complete. Grabbing the early lead at home against a struggling Golden Gophers team is the best start the Wildcats could have hoped for today.
