Northwestern University Football Players Get First Look At Wrigley Field Gridiron

Northwestern University Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald took his players to Wrigley Field today to get a look at the field they will play on Saturday and get a little practice in. According to reports, some players had never been inside Wrigley Field. Northwestern kicker Stefan Demos took a crack at kicking a field goal, which ended up on Sheffield Avenue (to be renamed Wildcat Way on Saturday during the Allstate Wrigleyville Classic, pitting Northwestern University against the University of Illinois).

Out of concern for the safety of the players, extra padding has been added to the right field corner. But Fitzgerald told a reporter that his players have been in similar situations in other venues where the walls are close to the playing field. In fact, the indoor practice field at Northwestern has walls, so the players have some experience with hard surfaces.
