The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are without a starting quarterback - at least for the first game of their season. Tommy Rees is out due to a suspension, and he's the only player on the team with tangible starting experience. As such, they're looking to a competition in training camp to see which of Andrew Hendrix or Everett Golson will get the starting job.
Brian Kelly spoke to the media on Thursday and talked a little about the quarterback job. J.J. Stankevitz of CSN Chicago took to Twitter to provide some details. In one Tweet, he noted that Note Dame is getting closer to a decision on who will be the starting quarterback for game one, and that it won't be a 50-50 split in reps, meaning that one of the two players likely has a leg-up at this point.
On top of that, another quote notes that Hendrix and Golson will meet to discuss reps on Monday, though it won't be a final decision when it happens. It will be interesting to see if the player who gets the most reps is the favored guy who ends up winning the battle. What will also be interesting is if either of these players can try and take some reps from Rees once he returns from the suspension.
