In the season openers for Illinois and Arizona State, each team imposed their will and came out with wins to begin their respective seasons. While ASU's was a domination in all facets, it was against a lesser opponent than Illinois, who won based on the strong play of their defense.
The Illini rank as the best rush defense in the nation after holding Western Michigan to negative rushing yardage in the game. The Sun Devils, on the other hand, enter the game as the No. 10 rushing offense after crushing Northern Arizona with 305 yards rushing.
Saturday's game will be the first true test for both teams, although the Illini may have to take the field without their starting quarterback, Nathan Scheelhaase, who had to leave the opener with an ankle injury.
Game time/date: 10:30 p.m. ET, Saturday
Location: Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe, AZ
TV Schedule/Streaming: ESPN
Odds: Arizona State favored by 4 points.
