Five-star point guard recruit Demetrius Jackson plans to decide where he'll be playing college ball on Thursday, as ESPN's Dave Telep reports. The native of Mishawaka, Ind., has limited his finalists to a pair of nearby schools, the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The starting point guard at Marian High School, Jackson is currently rated as the best player in the state of Indiana by ESPN. On the national level, the 6'1", 170-pound guard is rated as the fourth-best player at his position and the 19th-best player overall.
Considering that only Notre Dame and Illinois have officially visited Jackson this fall, it's essentially a lock that he'll decide to attend one of those schools. Illinois is trying to re-boot its program under new head coach John Groce, and Jackson would be a major step towards that goal.
