Crandall Head Transfer: SMU Visit On Tap For Former Illini Guard

Crandall Head, the younger brother of former Illinois Fighting Illini star Luther Head, was once a highly touted high school player, but after accepting a scholarship to play for Illinois, Head got lost in the Illini's guard glut and also struggled to recover a high school knee injury. Head is transferring from Illinois and will sit out all of next season. He's currently deciding what his next move will be.

Head said he was going to DePaul but has since backed out. While the guard says the Blue Demons are still an option, he's planning on taking a visit to SMU.

Why it's interesting: Jerrance Howard, the popular former Illini assistant who recruited Head to Champaign, is at SMU now.

From Scott Powers:

"Just talking to Jerrance, he’s telling me great things about the school, and I just want to see it for myself," Head said. "We’ve been talking since I left school. He’s still like family to me. I’ve known him for a long time. He’s just a good person. I trust him and what he’s telling me about the school."
