Illinois Football News: Illini Learn Big Ten Slate In 2015, 2016

The Big Ten conference announced its regular season conference slate for the 2015 and 2016 seasons on Monday. Perhaps the most notable development from the perspective of local schools is the Illinois Fighting Illini renewing a rivalry with the Iowa Hawkeyes. The two schools will play in 2015 for the first time since 2008.

Illinois opens the conference slate in 2015 with trips to Penn State and Iowa. The Illini will then come home to host Wisconsin and Michigan before going to Iowa for a Halloween contest. After a bye on November 7, Illinois travels to Ohio State and then Purdue. The Illini will close out the 2015 Big Ten schedule against Northwestern on Nov. 28.

In 2016, Illini will host Penn St. on Oct. 1 and Indiana the next week, then play away games at Wisconsin and Ohio State. The Illini face Iowa at home on Oct. 29 and travel to Michigan on Nov. 5. The 2016 Big Ten conference schedule will conclude for the Illini with games against Purdue and at Northwestern.
