The latest news out of the NCAA is that the Illinois Fighting Illini basketball team has learned their matchup for the 2012 ACC / Big Ten Challenge Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. According to ESPN, the Illini will play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for the first Illini-Georgia Tech pairing in the ACC / Big Ten Challenge.
The Illini finished the 2011-12 NCAA season with a disappointing 17-15 record, which led to the firing of head coach Bruce Weber and hiring of John Groce. The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, finished with an 11-20 record under first year head coach Brian Gregory, their second straight losing season.
