Super Bowl 2012: Steve Weatherford Giving Back To His Home Town

In this profile by ESPN New York's Rich Cimini, New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford -- a former player at the University of Illinois -- comes off as quite the free spirit, prone to pulling pranks or walking around the locker room in the nude.

But he also hasn't forgotten where he came from and does plenty to help those in need back in his home town of Terre Haute, Indiana.

[Weatherford is] the guy who walks around the locker room with a shopping cart, collecting gently used sneakers and cleats that he donates to underprivileged kids in his hometown of Terre Haute, Ind.

The guy who sends autographed items to his old high school, which conducts auctions and gives the proceeds to needy families that can't pay their electric bills.

With the Super Bowl in Indianapolis this year, Weatherford was able to get back to his home town this week, and he was honored with a pep rally attended by more than 2,000 people.
