Illinois vs. Ohio State score: Illini trail Buckeyes heading into 2nd quarter

The Illinois Fighting Illini have played well against the Ohio State Buckeyes, but they find themselves in a 7-6 hole heading into the second quarter. Carlos Hyde managed touchdown rush of three yards to put the Buckeyes up, and it came immediately after the Illini had put up their first three points.

Nathan Scheelhaase led the Illini on a 10-play, 39-yard drive that ended with a Nick Immekus 43-yard field goal to put up their first points of the day. After Ohio State's touchdown, they then took over with a big return from Terry Hawthorne, which set them up near the 50-yard line. Scheelhaase hit Darius Millines for an 11-yard pass, and then Ohio State was called for a 15-yard personal foul penalty.

After the penalty, Scheelhaase managed to lead the Illini to the nine-yard line, but a couple of incomplete passes stalled the drive and Immekus had to kick a 28-yard field goal, putting the score at 7-6, which is what it remains heading into the second quarter.
