Super Bowl 2012: Illinois Alum David Diehl Can Win His Second Title With The Giants

The Fighting Illini will be represented in the Super Bowl.

While the Chicago Bears are not in this year's Super Bowl, there are still a few storylines of local interest surrounding the game -- for one, there's former University of Illinois offensive lineman David Diehl, who is a starter for the New York Giants looking for his second Super Bowl ring.

Diehl, who earned an All-Big Ten Conference selection in his senior season at Illinois, has been a valuable part of New York's offensive line since the Giants drafted him in the fifth round of the 2003 draft. He started all 16 regular season games for the Giants during his rookie season, becoming the first Giants rookie to do that since Mark Bavaro in 1985. He's started 140 games in his Giants career.
