The Illinois Fighting Illini (1-0) continue their three-game, season-opening homestand tonight, hosting the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars (0-0).

The Cougars have not beaten Illinois in their previous two meetings and only mustered all of eight wins in the 2010-2011 season. The Illini, who last faced the Cougars in 2009, beat SIU-Edwardsville by over 25 points in both contests.

Illinois won its first game of the year, a 67-49 victory over the Loyola of Chicago Ramblers, and joins the other 11 Big Ten schools who have not lost so far in the 2011-2012 NCAA season. Tonight, they will look for improved play from the offense, led by Meyels Leonard in the first game, as they managed to score only 26 points in the first half against the Ramblers.
