Illinois generated a little bit of momentum heading into the fourth quarter of its matchup with No. 24 Michigan, as Nathan Scheelhaase ran for a 9-yard TD to make the score 17-7. Despite being dominated for much of the game, the Fighting Illini are within striking distance thanks to a strong defensive display.
Although Michigan has gained 303 yards, Illinois has done an excellent job of keeping the Wolverines out of the endzone. While Denard Robinson has rushed for 2 TD's, the Fighting Illini have forced four turnovers, which is the reason they are still in this game. Sophomore RB Fitzgerald Toussaint has been tough to contain, rushing for 157 yards.
Prior to its TD drive, Illinois had been forced to punt on eight of its first 10 drives. However, Scheelhaase led the Fighting Illini on a vital 75-yard TD drive to generate momentum heading into the final 15 minutes.
