Mother Nature Could Be Toughest Opponent For Penn State And Illinois

Saturday’s Big Ten matchup between Penn State and Illinois already had plenty of storylines. Illinois is off to an surprise start, but after losing two games in a row is now desparate for a victory. Penn State has played well this season and are looking to remain undefeated in the Big Ten. The real story on Saturday could be the weather.

State College, PA is expected to receive between 3-7 inches of snow right around the time of kickoff. A Winter Storm Watch has already been issued for that area. Precipitation should begin as a snow/rain mix before changing over to all snow around 10am EST.

We’ve all seen football games played in blizzard like conditions, but that is rare in the Big Ten. With the season typically ending in mid-November it typically is too early for major snow.

It sure will be interesting to see how both teams adapt to the conditions.
