St. Bonaventure Vs. Notre Dame Preview: Top-Seeded Irish Seeking Elite Eight Appearance

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking to land in the Elite Eight of this year's NCAA Women's Tournament by knocking off the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Sunday afternoon. The Irish, the No. 1 seed in the region, lost just one regular season game to a team that wasn't ranked in the top-5 nationally.

The Bonnies had similar success in the regular season, but it came against a significantly easier schedule. St. Bonaventure only played one game against a ranked team all season, a 61-49 loss against then-No. 8 Delaware way back on Nov. 27.

The first two victories of the tournament for St. Bonaventure were close calls, so the Bonnies will likely need to play their best to pull of the upset. After needing overtime to beat No. 12 seed FGCU in the first round, the Bonnies only beat 13-seeded Marist by three points to land in the Sweet 16.

The winner of this game will go on to play the winner of Maryland-Texas A&M, which is currently going on now, in the regional final.
