Not surprisingly, the matchup between the two teams fighting to stay out of the cellar of the Big East standings came down to the final minutes, with Providence holding on for a 73-71 victory over the DePaul Blue Demons. With the loss, DePaul is now alone at the bottom of the Big East with a 2-14 record in conference play.
Moses Morgan led the way for the Blue Demons in the loss, as he scored a team-high 13 points. Jamee Crockett and Brandon Young each netted 11 points, while Cleveland Melvin finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double.
DePaul had no answer for freshman forward LaDontae Henton, who completely dominated in the paint. Henton scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds for the double-double. Bryce Cotton shot the ball well from the perimeter for the Friars, scoring 19 points on 8/14 shooting.
