Having lost five straight games and sitting at the bottom of the Big East standings, DePaul knew it had nothing to lose against No. 18 Louisville. Despite playing with confidence and delivering one of its best offensive efforts of the season, the Blue Demons couldn't overcome a late rally by the Cardinals, as they fell 90-82 in overtime.
Sophomore guard Brandon Young was simply brilliant in the heartbreaking loss. Young, who struggled mightily in the loss to Connecticut earlier in the week, scored a game-high 27 points on 10/13 shooting from the field. Young also grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists in the loss. Cleveland Melvin provided a solid presence in the post for the Blue Demons, as the sophomore forward scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Louisville was led by Kyle Kuric, who hit key shots throughout the game. Kuric scored a team-high 25 points and hit 5/10 from behind the arc. Russ Smith and Chris Smith both added 18 points in the key victory for Louisville.
