The DePaul Blue Demons are trailing 29-24 at halftime against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights after another underwhelming half of offensive play. The Blue Demons have lost five straight games since beating Pittsburgh on Jan. 5, plummeting to the bottom of the Big East conference standings along the way.
Both teams actually traded leads numerous times during the half. DePaul had a 24-22 lead with just over three minutes left in the half before allowing Rutgers to finish things off on a 7-0 run to take the advantage. The Blue Demons shot just 37 percent from the field, compared to a much better 46 percent from the Scarlet Knights.
As usual, Cleveland Melvin leads DePaul in scoring with six points. Jeremiah Kelly has also played well, scoring five points on 2-of-2 shooting while dishing four assists, grabbing a steal and blocking a shot. Rutgers' Jerome Seagers is the game's leading scorer so far with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting; no other Scarlet Knight player has taken more than five shots.
