The DePaul Blue Demons likely weren't particularly pleased with their effort in the first half against Northern Illinois, as coach Oliver Purnell's squad led the Huskies by only three at the break. But DePaul got it right in the second half and ended up blowing out NIU 75-52 on Wednesday in DeKalb. \
Sophomore Cleveland Melvin led the way for DePaul, which is nothing new. The forward scored his average -- 19 points -- in the win, and also added four rebounds. Fellow sophomore Brandon Young also had a nice game. The 6'3 Baltimore native finished with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Senior Jeremiah Kelly added 15 points in the win.
The Blue Demons' biggest edge came in the turnover column. DePaul turned the ball over 10 times, compared to 18 turnovers for the Huskies.
Northern Illinois was led by senior forward Tim Toler, who finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
