MLB standings: White Sox two games behind division-leading Tigers

After leading the division for essentially the entire season, the Chicago White Sox have dropped eight out of their last 10 to drop two games below the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central.

Each team has four games left to play. Chicago finished their weekend series with the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday before finishing the season with a three-game set on the road against the Cleveland Indians. Detroit faces the Minnesota Twins Sundays and then heads to Kansas City to finish the season against the Royals.

Detroit's charge to the top of the division was aided by a four-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals this past week. That winning streak, coupled with Chicago's recent collapse, has put the Tigers in the playoff picture.

In the AL East, the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees are tied atop the division at 91-67. That record puts them atop the Wild Card race as well, with the Oakland Athletics occupying the second Wild Card spot. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Tampa Bay Rays are on the outside looking in at the Wild Card spot at 2.5 games back and three games back, respectively. Both the White Sox and Tigers have been eliminated from the Wild Card race.
