The Chicago White Sox lost one of their most recognizable fans on Monday as Chicago native and actor Michael Clarke Duncan passed away at the age of 54. Probably best known for his breakout performance in The Green Mile, which earned him an Academy Award nomination, Duncan was also an avid fan of the South Siders.
↵Before starring in such major films as Armageddon and The Whole Nine Yards, Duncan was actually involved in the famous Disco Demolition Night fiasco at Comiskey Park on July 12, 1979. One of the first people to run onto the field, Duncan slid into third base as fans flooded out of the stands.
↵Apparently becoming a part of baseball lore long before he became famous, Duncan did live long enough to see his beloved team win the World Series title. After the victory in 2005, the actor narrated the DVD commemorating Chicago's run to the championship.
