Rays vs. White Sox: Chris Sale tries to help Chicago gain more ground in Central

After cutting the Detroit Tigers lead in the AL Central standings to a game with a win and a Detroit loss Friday, Chris Sale pitches for the Chicago White Sox against the Tampa Bay Rays at 3:05 p.m. CT Saturday to try and help Chicago inch closer to re-taking the division lead.

Sale (17-7, 2.86 ERA) has beat the Rays once this season in his only start against the team. He gave up one run in 7.1 innings while striking out a season-high 15 batters on May 28. Sale has 185 strikeouts in 188.2 innings this season.

Tampa will start Matt Moore (10-11, 3.92 ERA). Moore faced Sale in that May 28 start and took the loss in his only appearance against Chicago this season. He gave up two runs and struck out 10 batters in seven innings.

Chicago ended a three-game losing streak with Friday's win. The Tigers are playing the Minnesota Twins at Minnesota and have reigning Cy Young winner and MVP Justin Verlander starting Saturday.
