Tigers Vs. White Sox Preview: Chris Sale Tries To Help Chicago Avoid Sweep

The Chicago White Sox will try to avoid a sweep by the Detroit Tigers Sunday with their ace pitcher Chris Sale (15-5, 2.81 ERA) on the mound for them. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. CT. A win by the Tigers moves them into a tie with the White Sox for first place in the AL Central.

Sale has not had much success against the Tigers in two starts this season. Sale gave up five earned runs (tied for a season high), seven hits and four walks in seven innings in a 7-1 Chicago loss July 21. Sale also took a loss to the Tigers in April.

The Tigers counter with Justin Verlander (12-7, 2.80 ERA), who is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing eight earned runs in 5.2 innings in a lost to Kansas City last week. Verlander beat the White Sox on July 20 in his only start against the team this season.
