With Gavin Floyd set to return to the starting rotation, Francisco Liriano will miss a start and be moved to the White Sox bullpen, according to CSN's Dan Hayes. This is a temporary move, and Liriano could start again as early as the weekend, depending on his use as a reliever.
The White Sox are currently in the middle of a four-game series against the Tigers. They will head to Minnesota this weekend, when Liriano could end up back in the rotation.
Floyd has been on the disabled list since Aug. 27 with a right elbow flexor strain. He is expected to return on Wednesday, when Liriano would have made his normal start.
Liriano has struggled with command since coming to Chicago in late July. The lefty has issued 18 walks in his last four starts, compared to 19 strikeouts in the same span.
