White Sox Vs. Angels Preview: Chicago Looks To Take Rubber Match On Sunday

The Chicago White Sox's chances at a sweep were wiped away on Saturday night after losing in extra innings to the Los Angeles Angels, but they can still end the weekend with a series victory with a win on Sunday. A win would keep the White Sox in first place, but Chicago could conceivably end up battling the Angels for a wild card win, so a head-to-head victory could be crucial somewhere down the line.

Francisco Liriano will be making his second start as a member of the White Sox, and his first at home. In his first start, Liriano returned to Minnesota to face his old team, allowing two earned runs in six innings while striking out eight batters. He'll have a bit of a tougher task on Sunday though, as both the Angels lineup and Chicago's home stadium are less forgiving to pitchers.

The Angels will counter with Dan Haren, the sometime ace who is having an uncharacteristically rough season. That said, Haren has been stellar in the second half so far this year, allowing only three earned runs in 12 innings across two starts.

Game date/time: Sunday, August 5, 1:10 p.m. CT

Location: U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, Ill

TV: CSN
