The Chicago White Sox started a comeback against the Baltimore Orioles in the final game of their four-game set, but fell short and lost 5-3 in the end. That's a 3-1 series loss to the Orioles, heading into a very crucial series against the Detroit Tigers. Chicago leads the AL Central division by just a couple of games, and if the Detroit Tigers win their game against the Kansas City Royals on Thursday, they could take control of the division when Chicago comes to town for a three-game set on Friday.
Jose Quintana was handed the loss for the White Sox, as he gave up five runs off of seven hits with just one strikeout in three-plus innings of work. He allowed two homeruns, to Taylor Teagarden and Adam Jones. Both of them had two RBI on the day. Nate Jones took over the work when Quintana was taken out, and he held the fort for just over two innings. Hector Santiago and Donnie Veal closed the game out for Chicago, with seven strikeouts between the final three pitchers.
Zach Britton was given the win, and he boasts a 4-1 record on the season for Baltimore. He lasted eight innings, giving up seven hits but only one run. He gave way to Pedro Strop, who didn't last an inning, immediately giving up two hits and two runs in the ninth before he was pulled. By then, the score was 5-3, but Jim Johnson came in and picked up the win and the save for the Orioles.
