The Chicago White Sox came into their series against the Baltimore Orioles riding the wave of a six-game winning streak, but they'll enter Wednesday's game at Camden Yards looking to pump the brakes on a two-game losing skid. After a one-run loss on Monday night, the White Sox were blanked, 6-0, on Tuesday night, and will now turn to starter Dylan Axelrod to help stem the tide.
Axelrod hasn't pitched in the majors since mid-July, when he gave up two earned runs in a single inning pitched to the Detroit Tigers. In his last start, in Boston a few days before that, he allowed only a single run on seven hits through 6 2-3 innings while striking out eight batters. On the season, Axelrod has posted a 5.63 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 38 1-3 innings.
The Orioles, meanwhile, will trot out the newly acquired Joe Saunders, who comes over from the Arizona Diamondbacks. It will be Saunders' first start as a member of the Orioles; in his final two starts for Arizona, he allowed 14 earned runs in 9 2-3 innings.
Game date/time: Wednesday, Aug. 29, 6:10 p.m. CT
