Adam Dunn is inching closer and closer to what the White Sox signed him to do: hit 40 homers. Dunn hit No. 38 and 39 tonight vs. the Seattle Mariners in his first two at-bats off starter Jason Vargas. It's the first time that Dunn has hit two homers off a lefty since 2010:
Dunn is responsible for three runs tonight, while the other three have been driven in by shortstop Alexei Ramirez. Ramirez singled in Alex Rios in the second inning and then homered in the bottom of the fourth to put Chicago up 6-to-2.
Jake Peavy, meanwhile, has given up two earned runs through five innings while striking out four.
