Chicago White Sox CF Alejandro De Aza will be placed on the disabled list retroactive to August 18 due to a strained oblique, according to multiple sources.
De Aza's injury occurred on August 17 against the Kansas City Royals and the center fielder has missed three games since the injury. De Aza, the White Sox leadoff man, is hitting .281 with a team leading 73 runs and 21 stolen bases. Dewayne Wise has been filling in for De Aza since his injury and hit a two-run homer on Monday to help defeat the Yankees.
The White Sox will call up OF Jordan Danks from Triple-A Charlotte to fill De Aza's roster spot. Danks has appeared in 29 games with the Sox this season, batting .265.
The White Sox continue their series with the Yankees on Tuesday and will be looking for their second win in a row.
